How Do I Become a Mathematics or Statistics Major?

The following requirements must be met to become a mathematics or statistics major:

  • 16 semester credit hours earned
  • 2.0 over-all GPA
  • Grade of "C" or higher in MTH 2300
  • Students majoring in math are expected to be admitted to the College of Science & Mathematics by the end of their 4th semester.

Once the above requirements have been met, students will need to submit a Change of Major Application (PDF) at the CoSM Student Services Office in Room 106 Oelman Hall (application must be submitted by mail or in person) or complete a Change Major/Minor Request in Wings Express.

After the application is reviewed, applicants will be assigned an advisor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
