Two Chemistry students were recipients of Wright State University's Outstanding Student Leaders Awards, April 17, 2014, at a Student Recognition Reception organized by the Office of Student Activities. Grace Klinger, received the Advanced Student Leader and Outstanding Senior Leader Awards. Amy Willcox received the Outstanding Senior Leader Award. Both students are officers in the Chemistry Club and recently were part of the Chemistry Club's  Chemistry Demo Show.

Philip Lavretsky successfully defended his dissertation "PHYLOGENETICS, POPULATION GENETICS, AND EVOLUTION OF THE MALLARD COMPLEX" on Friday, April 4, 2014.  Phil's advisor was Dr. Jeff Peters of the Department of Biological Sciences.

Reza Soltanian, an Environmental Sciences Ph.D. student working under the guidance of Prof. Bob Ritzi in Earth and Environmental Sciences, recently received a $1500 grant from the Geological Society of America for his research on carbon sequestration.  Reza's abstract is included below.
