W.Tang Watanasriyakul '13 B.S., '16 M.S.

Graduate Research Assistant (1st Year Ph.D Student)

Institution/ Company: Northern Illinois University

Highest Degree: M.S. in Physiology & Neuroscience, Wright State University

A former BNS student in the Hennessy/Schiml lab from 2011 to 2016, Tang says that “Not only did the BNS concentration give me a better understanding of the brain and behavior, it also introduced me to research life. The experience of working in the lab with Mike and Trish, collecting data, learning new techniques, writing, and doing actual science was a priceless experience. With years of research experience (and a publication), it definitely gave me an edge when I applied to Ph.D. programs. I would strongly encourage anyone who wants to pursue academia as a career to get involved in research early. You will need to work hard and make some sacrifices, but it will be worth it in the end (or at least that’s what I tell myself).”
