Elizabeth Gomez
For her thesis, Elizabeth screened through 104 genes for expression in the female reproductive system of flatworms and identified two required for germline formation. These two genes are currently being validated (by her, since all of this was her work) and will yield two publications from my lab. As a product of her hard work in the lab, she has been invited to present a flash talk at the Midwest Society for Developmental Biology Meeting and also agreed to present her work at Ecoseminar in April.
Furthermore, she has also presented her research in poster format and will have a total of (at least) 3 poster presentations by the time she graduates. On the other hand, she was selected as a Considine Scholar and as a Dale True Awardee from pools of other undergraduate applications and proposals.“
