While graduating students have had their official celebration put on hold due to COVID-19, Wright State will recognize their many achievements as they have completed their degree requirements.

Mark Espy, who earned a master’s degree in microbiology from Wright State, is a clinical researcher at the Mayo Clinic.

Dawn Wooley, professor of neuroscience, cell biology and physiology, provides up-to-date lectures on the coronavirus as part of her virology course.

Wright State seniors Zack Carpenter and Matt Barrett received scholarships and funds to attend the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference in December.

The Top Scholar award is funded by the Wright State Parents Association and the Friends of the Wright State University Libraries. The Top Scholar is selected by the dean of each college and the Lake Campus. Each Top Scholar must have at least a 3.6 GPA and be on track to graduate in spring.

Michele Miller said the public needs to understand that scientists are still learning about coronavirus and that much is unknown.
