Jason Deibel, Ph.D. was promoted to Associate Professor in 2013. His research interests include ultrafast and terahertz spectroscopy and imaging, computational electromagnetics, and the characterization of novel materials. His work has been published in over 35 refereed journals and conference proceedings, and has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Ohio Board of Regents, and the Air Force Research Laboratory as well as several private research and development companies. A significant number of these publications have included undergraduate co-authors. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, The Optical Society of America, American Association of Physics Teachers, and American Physical Society as well as the Council for Undergraduate Research.
Since August, 2016, Dr. Deibel has served as the interim chair of Physics. Dr. Deibel is committed to advancing his teaching via the implementation of active learning strategies in the classroom and the implementation of innovative strategies for incorporating undergraduate research into the student experience. He has also developed content and course materials with the Education Division at the National Museum of the United States Air Force and has taught classes about multiple scientific topics to visiting school groups.
He lives in Oakwood with his wife, Jennifer, and their young son, Alexander.
