Current Wright State Students

To request a change of major, log into WINGS Express and select the "Registration and Records" menu then "Major/Minor Change Request" option. At the time of your acceptance into a CoSM degree program, you will be assigned an academic advisor in your new major. 

If you are interested in adding or changing your major, you can be admitted to a CoSM department when: 

  • Biological Sciences (all options) and Clinical Laboratory Science: Completion of at least 15 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 and earn a grade of C or higher in BIO 1120 or 1150.  
  • Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Environmental Science: Completion of at least 16 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 along with one course in CoSM of the chosen major (or transfer equivalent) with a minimum grade of C. 
  • Mathematics and Statistics: Completion of at least 16 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and earn a grade of C or higher in MTH 2300.   
  • Psychology: Completion of at least 20 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 and earn a 2.25 GPA across all psychology courses (a minimum of two psychology classes must be completed). 

Returning Students

You must reapply to Wright State if you have been absent for 3 or more consecutive semesters. To be admitted to a department in the College of Science and Mathematics, you must satisfy the specific entrance requirements: 

  • Biological Sciences (all options) and Clinical Laboratory Science: Completion of at least 15 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 and earn a grade of C or higher in BIO 1120 or 1150.  
  • Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Environmental Science: Completion of at least 16 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 along with one course in CoSM of the chosen major (or transfer equivalent) with a minimum grade of C. 
  • Mathematics and Statistics: Completion of at least 16 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and earn a grade of C or higher in MTH 2300. 
  • Psychology: Completion of at least 20 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 and earn a 2.25 GPA across all psychology courses (a minimum of two psychology classes must be completed). 

If you were dismissed from the university, you may apply for readmission by petition after a three semesters absence. 

You may want to take advantage of the Fresh Start Rule if you have not attended Wright State for three years (9 consecutive semesters). This rule may help in recalculating your previous GPA. 

Transfer Students

Transfer students who are interested in pursuing a science and mathematics degree can be admitted to a department when;  

  • Biological Sciences (all options) and Clinical Laboratory Science: Completion of at least 15 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 and earn a grade of C or higher in BIO 1120 or 1150. 
  • Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Environmental Science: Completion of at least 16 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 along with one course in CoSM of the chosen major (or transfer equivalent) with a minimum grade of C. 
  • Mathematics and Statistics: Completion of at least 16 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and earn a grade of C or higher in MTH 2300. 
  • Psychology: Completion of at least 20 semester hours with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 and earn a 2.25 GPA across all psychology courses (a minimum of two psychology classes must be completed).
