First year Ph.D. student, Katlin Bowman, who is advised by Chad Hammerschmidt in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, won the outstanding student presentation award at the 2012 Ocean Sciences Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ph.D. student Deah Lieurance, advised by Don Cipollini in the Department of Biological Sciences, was awarded a travel grant by Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP). SERDP is the U.S. Department of Defense's (DoD) environmental science and technology program, executed in partnership with DOE and EPA. Deah used the award to present her research at the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America (ESA) in Portland.
