Kuppuswamy Arumugam, New Organic Chemistry Faculty

New Student Research Opportunities
Dr. Kuppuswamy Arumugam

Swamy, is originally from Tamil Nadu, India. After finishing his undergraduate studies at Pondicherry University, he moved to the US for graduate studies. Swamy received his Ph.D from Tulane University , New Orleans, LA, followed with a postdoctoral stint at The University of Texas at Austin. He was an Assistant Professor at St. Bonaventure prior to joining the Wright State Chemistry Department.

His research interests lie in the interface between organometallic chemistry, materials sciences, and biology. These studies involve the synthesis of several organometallic complexes/polymers that posses interesting catalytic, photophysical and anti-cancer properties. In addition to the development of fundamental reactivity profile, students will use these materials for catalysis, photophysical application and as anti-cancer agents. Students working in my group will have plenty of opportunity to learn synthetic techniques, variety of spectroscopic techniques, electrochemistry and spectroelectrochemistry.
