When did you know that you wanted to be a scientist/mathematician?
In what is now called middle school or junior high.
What advice would you give yourself at 20-years-old?
To do what you like to do
Who is your childhood hero?
I can’t say that any one person was. I did undergraduate research with the inorganic/analytical professor, and then Ph.D. research with my research advisor. Both guided me along before I completed my degrees and after. Before receiving my degrees the influence had more to do with “isn’t it time for you to do ___”, whether it was to write or rewrite. Afterwards, it was advice on grants, working with colleagues.
