CoSM would like all undergraduate students in the college to have research opportunities, field experiences, clinical placements, and internship experiences during their undergraduate studies. These types of opportunities fall under the umbrella of experiential learning.
As this future is realized, the college will be transformed in remarkable ways. Experiential learning will lend “real world” experience to classwork. It will put “hands-on” experience in the hands of students. It will expose businesses and laboratories in the region to exceptional CoSM students. New collaborative relationships will be created between faculty, departments, and employers.
CoSM needs your help to make this transformation a reality. There are approximately 1,400 undergraduate student majors in the College of Science and Mathematics. Creating and funding experiential learning opportunities for all undergraduate students in the college is an incredible undertaking. To accomplish this objective, the college will expand existing initiatives and establish new relationships within the region.
Individual and organizational investments will help build the infrastructure necessary to administer an experiential learning program of this scope. Investments will provide scholarship funding for students and new resources for faculty to employ students via research. Investments will allow departments in the college to create unique experiential learning opportunities for their students.
