Expanding CoSM Undergraduate Research Experiences

Student researchers in chemistry lab

CoSM alumni, friends and corporate partners can help expand undergraduate research experiences by eliminating financial obstacles faced by CoSM students and faculty.

A large percentage of CoSM students need to work in a paying job while taking classes.  Many students work in jobs that have no relevance to their chosen career field.  Many CoSM faculty who want to mentor students via undergraduate research don’t have the funding to do so.  Paid undergraduate research experiences allow CoSM students to earn money and acquire hands on experience with a CoSM faculty mentor.

A semester-long undergraduate research experience costs $4000.00 ($3500 per student/20hrs per week + $500 supply stipend).   A summer-long undergraduate research experience costs $5800.00 ($5300.00 stipend/30hrs per week + $500 supplies).

Gifts can fully fund one or more CoSM students or be pooled together to reach the funding threshold for a semester or summer-long experience.  Gifts to fund undergraduate research can provide college wide resources or be designated to a CoSM academic department.
