Christopher Wyatt, Ph.D. Appointed Associate Dean of the College

Christopher Wyatt, Ph.D., was born in Manchester, England. He received a bachelor's degree in pharmacology in 1991 from the University of Bath, UK, and a Ph.D. in neuropharmacology in 1994 from the University of Leeds, UK.

He worked as a postdoctoral research scientist at University College London, the University of Oxford and St Andrews University in Scotland. In 2007, he took an assistant professor position in the Department of Neuroscience, Cell Biology and Physiology (NCBP) at Wright State University and moved his family to the United States. In 2011, he received Wright State University’s Presidential Award for Faculty Excellence Early Career Achievement. He was promoted to associate professor in 2012, and served as the interim chair of NCBP from Feb. 2015 until Sept. 2016.

Wyatt's research is focused on the neuronal control of breathing. He is specifically interested in how carotid bodies respond to changes in blood gases in order to maintain physiological homeostasis. He has more than 45 publications on this subject, and his laboratory has been funded by the NIH, the American Heart Association and Galleon Pharmaceuticals.
