Award Opportunities

David J. Karl Memorial Award

Established in memory of Dr. David J. Karl to provide an award for students majoring in Chemistry.  Dr. Karl was a faculty member (1968-1988) and chair of the Department of Chemistry (1968-1976).  Available to chemistry majors with a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA.

Scholarship Opportunities

Santosh and Rakesh Gupta Chemistry Scholarship

Be enrolled as a chemistry major in a College of Science and Mathematics bachelor of science degree chemistry program; minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA; full-time; have demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to applicants in their junior or senior year and to those with the greatest financial need.

The Cargill Chemistry Scholarship

Cargill is an international producer and marketer of food, agricultural, financial and industrial products and services. Founded in 1865, the privately held company employs 131,000 people in 66 countries.  Established by Cargill, Inc. to provide annual scholarships to two Wright State University College of Science and Mathematics Chemistry majors.  Available to junior or senior chemistry majors with a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher.

Chemistry Department Scholarship

Established in 1984 by Millie Waddell, during what was then the Campus Scholarship Campaign, to provide scholarships to students majoring in Chemistry. Available to chemistry majors with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

The Dr. Jean T. and Phyllis Nussey Dubois Memorial Scholarship

In 1967, following the death of Dr. Dubois, Mrs. Dubois and her family established the Dr. Jean T. Dubois Memorial Scholarship to provide scholarships for meritorious students majoring in chemistry.   Dr. DuBois, a researcher at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, WPAFB, Ohio,was very interested in the Wright State University's Chemistry Department in the 1960’s before he was killed in a plane accident.  When Mrs. Dubois passed away in 1995, her will provided significant growth to the fund and the fund was re-named the Dr. Jean T. and Phyllis Nussey Dubois Memorial Endowed Scholarship.  The scholarship is available to chemistry majors with documented financial need with a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA.

Science and Mathematics Scholarship

Established originally by Dr. Donald Adams, Dr. Charles Carraher, and Dr. Brian Hutchings to provide scholarships for students pursuing a degree in science and engineering.

The Howard E. Bales Memorial Scholarship

Available to students pursuing a major in the College of Science and Mathematics who plan to teach science.
