The College of Science and Mathematics appoints Ajani L. Ross, Ph.D. Director of Internship and Co-ops

The College of Science and Mathematics is pleased to announce the appointment of Ajani L. Ross, Ph.D., as the Director of Internships and Co-ops. The goal of this position is to annually increase the number of undergraduate students in internships and co-ops.

Dr. Ross will create a comprehensive plan to inform students of internship and co-op opportunities, including the development of an internship and co-op webpage within the CoSM website. He will strengthen relationships with area companies and collaborate with the college, departmental advisers, the Director of Undergraduate Research and Experiential Learning to ensure students understand the expectations of employers, including professional behavior and effective resumes.

He will work with faculty to develop a internships course for credit and incorporate relevant work skills into courses (for example, specific software programs or analysis). In addition, he will collaborate with a career education team to develop the Career Education program, a combination of one-on-one advising, group advising, and other programming.

In 2015 Dr. Ross became an Instructor for Wright State University, Department of Physics. He worked with the university to design and develop online material for PHY 1060, the introductory Astronomy course.

After earning a BS in Physics at Wright State University Dr. Ross pursued his Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Texas in Arlington, TX. While there his research interest was in the area of thin magnetic materials, and the characterization of magnetic properties of materials.
