Medical Mentoring

Medical school is challenging and a mentor can offer advice on your education, future career and network opportunities.   This helps alleviate some of the stress and emotional strain many students encounter when making a critical long-term decision.

Annually, medical students from the Boonshoft School of Medicine pair up with undergraduate pre-med students to provide encouragement and direction.  In the spring, interested students apply to find a mentor while medical students apply to mentor.  Each undergraduate is matched with a medical student based on his or her interests, goals and questions.  Students are mentored on a variety of topics, including:

  • What to include on the medical school application
  • How to write an effective personal statement
  • How to prepare for an interview
  • Study strategies for the MCAT
  • Medical education
  • Residency selection and Match Day
  • Time management
